Acoustic Panels — Small Intervention, Big Impact

Not every acoustic project requires a complete room overhaul. Sometimes the most effective intervention is a targeted one — a handful of well-placed panels that address the specific acoustic problem in a space without disrupting its existing aesthetic or requiring significant cost.

This installation is a perfect example. A single meeting room was suffering from excessive reverberation — voices echoing off hard surfaces, videoconferencing suffering, conversations feeling effortful. A relatively modest acoustic panel installation addressed all of it.

How the Panels Work

Acoustic wall panels work by converting the energy of soundwaves into heat as the wave passes through the panel material. The high-density fibres in panels like those from Autex Acoustics are extraordinarily effective at this conversion — the same nanofibre technology found in premium air filtration systems, applied to commercial sound management.

The panels used in this installation were selected for both their acoustic performance and their visual quality. Rather than defaulting to a single tone, we specified a combination of complementary colours that gave the room some visual interest while working coherently with the existing fitout. The result is panels that feel like a deliberate design choice rather than a remediation measure.
