Some projects give you the opportunity to do something genuinely special — to bring together the warmth of traditional craft and the precision of contemporary engineering in a way that neither could achieve alone. The Stockman Group's Ruby Black project was exactly that kind of opportunity.

The Brief

The Stockman Group came to us with a vision for a workspace that honoured the history and character of the Ruby Black building — a heritage property with exposed brick, high ceilings, and the kind of patina that only comes with genuine age — while equipping it with the technology infrastructure that a modern, high-performing team demands.

The furniture had to earn its place in both worlds simultaneously.

What We Delivered

The specification balanced solid timber joinery — custom cabinetry and reception elements that felt at home in the heritage context — with Markant sit-to-stand desking, integrated soft wiring, and acoustic screen systems that reflected the highest standards of contemporary workplace design.

The result is a space that doesn't feel like a heritage building that's been awkwardly modernised, or a modern office that's been gratuitously aged. It feels like a workspace that knows exactly what it is — one that understands and honours its past while being thoroughly prepared for its future.
