Documenting the Work Before Level 4

On the evening of 25 March 2020, the New Zealand government announced the country would move to COVID-19 Alert Level 4 — a full nationwide lockdown — at midnight. For businesses across the country, including ours, it meant closing up and going home immediately.

We managed to get a few final photos of the site we'd been working on before the doors closed. They're not the polished installation shots we usually share — they're something more candid: a record of work in progress at a moment when everything stopped.

The Site

The installation had been progressing well. New Markant workstations were in place. The seating had been delivered and positioned. The space was, by any reasonable measure, looking genuinely excellent. The plan had been to complete the final punch-list items, take proper photography, and hand over to the client that week.

Instead, like almost every business in New Zealand, we went home and waited.

A Moment Worth Remembering

The COVID-19 lockdown was a genuinely strange and difficult period for many businesses and individuals. For Bishop Interiors, it was a time of reflection — about what we do, why we do it, and how much we value the relationships we've built with clients and suppliers over many years.

We were grateful to emerge from it with the business and our relationships intact, and more motivated than ever to get back to doing what we love. The site in these photos was completed shortly after the lockdown lifted. It looked even better finished.
