When a Staff Room Needed Something Special

Not every fit-out needs to be a full office transformation. Sometimes a single room, done really well, makes the most meaningful difference. This client had a staff room that was functional but completely uninspiring — and they wanted to change that.

The Brief

The client wanted the staff room to feel like a genuine refuge from the busy front-of-house environment — a place where people could truly switch off for 20 minutes, not just a room with a kettle and a plastic chair. They also wanted to inject some personality: they weren't afraid of colour, and they wanted the space to feel like it reflected their brand's energy.

The Solution

We designed and installed custom booth seating — banquette-style, upholstered in a bold fabric that immediately set the tone. Booth seating has several advantages in a staff room context: it creates semi-private social zones within an open room, it's extremely comfortable for extended sitting, and it photographs beautifully.

The booth was paired with a complementary colour in the loose cafe seating, creating a palette that felt cohesive without being monotonous. A feature pendant light anchored the dining area and gave the room a hospitality-adjacent warmth that made it feel deliberately designed rather than assembled from whatever was in stock.

The Outcome

The client was thrilled — and the team response has been even better. When people genuinely enjoy spending their breaks in a space, they return to work more refreshed. That's an outcome with real business value.
