At Prebbleton School, it’s not just about creating spaces—it’s about supporting the people who keep the school running. From a considered, welcoming Principal’s Office to a flexible, social Staffroom, these spaces are designed to work hard every day—balancing function, comfort, and a sense of ease that reflects the culture of the school.

Two spaces, two distinct experiences—designed to support deeply personal moments. This project recognises that no two services are the same, and that environment plays a powerful role in shaping how people gather, reflect, and remember. By creating two chapels with clearly different identities—one grounded in warmth and familiarity, the other in quiet, contemporary clarity—the design offers meaningful choice without compromise. Every element is considered, from acoustics and seating comfort to materiality and light, ensuring each space feels composed, respectful, and appropriate to the moment. It’s a carefully balanced approach that moves beyond a one-size-fits-all solution, instead delivering environments that honour individuality while maintaining a cohesive, dignified whole.

This project showcases how a carefully considered workplace system can be rolled out across multiple locations without losing impact, quality, or identity. By embedding acoustic performance into the core of the design—through screens, wall finishes, and spatial planning—the spaces actively support the way people work, not just how they look. The consistency of furniture, materials, and layout creates familiarity for teams across Christchurch, Auckland, Brisbane, and Melbourne, while still allowing each site to feel purposeful and efficient. It’s a workplace approach built on clarity and repeatability—streamlined, adaptable, and designed to evolve—proving that scalable design doesn’t have to be generic, it can be both practical and refined at every level.

Designed for movement, built for longevity—this seating solution redefines what airport furniture can be. By integrating removable covers and durable materials into a soft, contemporary form, the design responds directly to the demands of a high-traffic environment without compromising on comfort or visual appeal. It’s a system that works as hard as the space it inhabits—easily maintained, endlessly adaptable, and built to evolve over time. In a setting where wear is inevitable and downtime isn’t an option, the ability to refresh, repair, and reconfigure with ease becomes essential. The result is a future-proofed solution that not only supports the daily rhythm of travel but enhances it—creating a space that feels clean, calm, and considered, no matter how many people pass through it.

In a building designed for constant movement and energy, the staffroom becomes a place to reset. This space is intentionally quieter in tone—both visually and functionally—offering staff a moment to step away from the pace of the facility. With a mix of lounge seating for true relaxation and flexible café settings for connection, it supports the full spectrum of break-time needs. Durable materials ensure it works hard behind the scenes, but the experience is all about comfort—creating a space that feels considered, calm, and genuinely restorative.
