The Challenge

Waitākiri Primary School needed a staffroom that could support a range of daily activities—from quiet breaks and informal meetings to group gatherings and shared meals. The existing space required a layout that balanced functionality with comfort, while also creating a welcoming environment for staff to recharge throughout the day.

The Solution

The space was designed with clearly defined zones to support different ways of working and relaxing. Soft seating areas encourage informal conversations and downtime, while communal tables provide a practical setting for shared meals and collaboration.

A fresh, cohesive colour palette of greens and blues adds energy to the space while maintaining a calm, grounded feel. Durable materials and easy-care finishes ensure the environment can withstand daily use, while still feeling comfortable and inviting.

The addition of a functional kitchen and bar-style seating enhances usability, creating a central hub that brings staff together.

The Outcome

The result is a versatile and welcoming staffroom that supports both individual and group use. Staff can easily move between spaces depending on their needs, whether it’s a quiet moment to reset or a place to connect with colleagues.
