The Challenge
Design a staffroom within a busy aquatic and sports facility that offers genuine downtime and separation from the public environment. The space needed to support a range of uses—from quick breaks to longer pauses—while remaining durable enough for consistent daily use. Creating a calm, comfortable atmosphere within a high-energy building was key.
The Solution
A layered approach to seating was introduced to support different modes of rest. Soft lounge sofas provide a place to properly unwind, while lightweight café-style seating allows for casual eating and conversation. The layout keeps the space open and easy to navigate, while subtly zoning areas for relaxation versus activity.
Durable upholstery and finishes ensure longevity, while warm tones and softer textures help shift the feel away from the more functional public areas of the facility.
The Outcome
The result is a comfortable, practical retreat for staff, supporting both individual downtime and social interaction. The space feels relaxed and approachable, while still performing under daily use.
