The Challenge

Designing for an airport environment meant addressing constant, high-volume use while maintaining a clean, welcoming aesthetic. Seating needed to withstand heavy foot traffic, frequent turnover of users, and the realities of spills, wear, and ongoing maintenance—without looking overly utilitarian. The space also required flexibility, allowing for easy upkeep and long-term durability without disrupting daily operations or passenger experience.

The Solution

A modular seating system was introduced, combining soft, inviting forms with highly practical functionality. Upholstered elements were designed with removable covers, allowing for easy cleaning, replacement, and long-term maintenance without compromising the integrity of the furniture. Durable materials and robust construction ensure the seating performs in a demanding environment, while integrated power modules and occasional timber surfaces add usability for modern travellers. The layout supports a variety of waiting styles—from individual seating to more relaxed, social configurations—creating a balance between comfort and efficiency.

The Outcome

The result is a seating environment that feels warm and considered, while performing at the highest level of durability. Maintenance is simplified, extending the lifecycle of the furniture and reducing operational disruption.
