Koawa Film Studio
Built for focus and clarity
The Challenge
Koawa Film Studios required a series of highly specialised environments—recording rooms, a theatre, and a sound stage—each with distinct acoustic performance criteria.
The challenge was to translate complex acoustic engineering requirements into built form without compromising usability, flexibility, or visual cohesion. Traditional acoustic treatments risked creating flat, overly technical spaces that lacked identity and user comfort.
The Solution
We developed a system of purpose-built acoustic panel “boxes”, each dimensioned and positioned in response to the acoustic engineer’s specifications.
These modular elements vary in depth, density, and arrangement to deliver precise control over absorption and diffusion across different frequencies.
Rather than concealing the acoustic strategy, we expressed it architecturally—creating a layered, three-dimensional language that defines each space while maintaining a consistent design narrative.
Material palettes, lighting, and geometry were carefully tuned to support both technical performance and human experience.
The Outcome
The result is a suite of high-performance acoustic environments that meet rigorous studio standards while offering a refined, cohesive aesthetic.
Each space is optimised for its function—whether critical listening, recording, or large-scale production—yet feels intentional, comfortable, and visually engaging.
The project demonstrates that acoustic precision and architectural design can operate as one, elevating both the performance and the experience of the space.
