The Challenge

Designing for a theatre environment meant balancing two critical elements: acoustic performance and audience comfort. The space required controlled sound distribution across a large volume, ensuring clarity and consistency from front row to back. At the same time, the integration of tiered seating, sightlines, and accessibility had to work seamlessly with acoustic treatments. The challenge was to deliver high-performance acoustics without compromising the visual identity or user experience of a contemporary theatre.

The Solution

A coordinated approach combined specialist acoustic wall panels with custom-designed seating layouts. Faceted acoustic panels were strategically installed to diffuse and absorb sound, reducing echo and enhancing audio clarity throughout the room. The geometric patterning not only serves a technical function but also reinforces a strong visual rhythm across the theatre walls. Tiered seating was carefully configured to optimise sightlines and sound distribution, while materials and finishes were selected for durability, comfort, and acoustic contribution.
